Unochat ("we", "us", "our") operates the unochat.ai website and application. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how you can exercise your rights under the GDPR and applicable privacy laws.

2. Data We Collect

When you create an account or use Unochat, we may collect:

• Account data — email address, name, profile picture (via Google OAuth or email sign-up).
• Usage data — conversation history stored in your account, model selections, language and theme preferences.
• Billing data — subscription plan and payment status (managed by Stripe; we do not store your card details).
• Technical data — IP address (used for currency/locale detection), browser type, device type. We do not build advertising profiles from this data.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

• Performance of a contract — processing your prompts and delivering AI responses is necessary to provide the service you subscribed to.
• Legitimate interest — improving reliability, detecting abuse, and sending transactional emails (subscription confirmations, payment receipts).
• Consent — for any optional communications such as newsletters (you can unsubscribe at any time).

4. How We Use Your Data

• To authenticate you and manage your subscription.
• To store and display your conversation history within the app.
• To detect your country and display localised pricing and language.
• To send transactional emails (payment confirmations, password resets).
• To comply with legal obligations.

We never use your prompts or conversations to train AI models.

5. Third-Party Processors

Each processor is bound by a Data Processing Agreement ensuring appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

6. AI Providers — Zero Data Retention

Prompts sent to AI providers via Unochat use zero-data-retention API agreements where available. Providers do not retain prompts or responses beyond the duration of the API call. Your conversations are stored only in your Unochat account, under your control.

7. Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies:

• Session token — keeps you authenticated.
• Preferences — language and theme stored in localStorage.

No advertising or tracking cookies are set. No third-party pixels are loaded.

8. Data Retention

• Your account and conversation data are retained for as long as your account is active.
• You can delete individual conversations at any time from the app.
• To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at contact@unochat.ai.
• Billing records are retained for the duration required by applicable accounting and tax law (typically 6–10 years).

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data.
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• Restriction — request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@unochat.ai. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to databases is restricted to authorised personnel. We follow industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified by email or via an in-app notice. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
